We got up and out, and arrived at Zion National Park shortly after 9 AM. What an awesome show of God's creation! The mountains are colorful, from a tan sandy color, to a orange-red color of the rock. And to top it off, many of the mountains had green evergreen trees on them. You can see by the pictures shown above the beauty and majesty coming from our Creator.
There are no cars in hte park, so you just hop on the free transportation which can drop you off and pick you up and about 10 different locations throughout the park. We grabbed our backpack, and headed for first location which had a hike just under 2 miles. We wanted to get a longer hike out of the way before the kids got tired, and before it got too hot. The hike was at a site called Emerald Pools, where there were a few small waterfalls. All three children did very well on the hike. The temperatures reached 104 degrees today, but it didn't seem to bad. We ate lunch, and then went on a few more small hikes along the way. Tim and Jordan went on one where they could wade into the clear cool water of the Virgin River, which is what flows through the park.
When we were leaving, Tim saw a friend from work - Jeff Kroon - who was also traveling with his family across country.
We got back to the camp site, and Tim, Peter and Jordan went to an air conditioned game room to play some pool. We then ate, and went swimming until about 8:15. Last night, Tim, Peter and Jordan started to watch Star Wars, Part V. Tonight, we asked if we could use the rec room to watch the rest of it, and they allowed us to do so. Donna and Emmie were able to write some post cards and read a bit before turning in for the night.
Tomorrow, we're headed for the Grand Canyon!
